A brilliant commercial

British cereal brand SURREAL has launched a fun and bold poster campaign, featuring celebrities who appear to endorse their products. Except they're not actually celebrities - just normal people sharing their names. The poster campaign wanted to make a splash at first glance and it seems that the objective was achieved!

This was loudly applauded on social media, as people found it funny, very creative, and above all daring.

On the other hand, we cannot ignore the reflection linked to the legal aspect of the thing. The brand has stepped into a pretty gray area when it comes to using the name, image, and likeness of people who share names with international icons. In the past, Kim Kardashian sued (and settled out of court) with Old Navy over the use of a model who resembled the celebrity in an advertisement. Starbucks also sued a woman named Sam Buck, who named her coffee Sambuck's, alleging trademark infringement. Starbucks won.

The future will tell us what happens to this famous offensive on the part of SURREAL!
